Before joining ChinaVest, Mr. Valdez worked in New York as a Consultant for the Synergos Institute and ProVentures, a PE fund that promotes investments in Southern Africa & Latin America, and founded LatiNexus, a social venture that assists Latin American immigrants. Prior to that, he worked at Casa de Moneda de Mexico (Mexican Mint - Finance Ministry) as Business Development Manager and chaired Fundación EDUCA Mexico. In 2007, he launched www.latinoamericanosenchina.com, the first on-line communication and information sharing platform between China & Latin America.

Mr. Valdez graduated from ITAM with a B.A. in Economics and received an MPP from Columbia University and an MBA from China Europe International Business School (CEIBS).
